95 harley dyna 1340 ccstage 1 kit kn air filter vance hines pipes.at 95 to 97mph pulling up grade motor spits?
pulling up a grade at high speed it coughs not getting enough fuel even at idle every now and then does not sound right seems to have a puff puff sound.other than that bike runs great only 17k miles.should i go to a s and s carb or screaming eagle or just have this one rejetted?
You have to do some trial and error adjustments.
A combination of re-jetting and adjustment of your fuel/air ratio (idle mixture) screw will eliminate the problems you’re describing.
Learn how to do a "plug test" , run the bike ,read the plugs and adjust the fuel air ratio accordingly.
Even if you change out to a S&S or Mikuni, you will still have to fine tune your carb.
If you are unable to do the tuning yourself, it’s a well spent $100.00 to have it run on a dyno.
Rejet
first try adjusting the carb. for higher altitudes. if that doesn’t work then rejet.
Rejetting might fix the problem. Check your timing also. Even if you solve this problem first, an S&S carb is not a bad idea.
Rejet and shoot some Sea Foam through the gas.
If u changed the cam, it could be the problem. You gain some things , lose others. Other than that, sounds like a good tune should fix u up.

cv carb does a good job intil you get to 96 inches. You still have to jet the s+s. They don’t come set-up for your engine configuration
Might want to check the intake and exaust nuts and bolts for looseness, possible bad gaskets etc.
you do know that going 95 or 97 mph is against the law.
Ryde on and jack k are both right. check the intake seals, fuel filter and air filter. check the push rod adjustment(if the cam was changed and adjustables were installed).then check the timing.. before adjusting the carb, make sure the cables and enrichener are working right.now you can put in a fresh set of plugs and start the adjustment of the carb. Was it right before? there are several sights that tell how to set up a CV carb. Don’t bother with the dynajet kit its not worth the money IMO.carbs usually don’t go out of adjustment .unless you change something. if the carb wasn’t set up for the pipes and air cleaner, you are definitely lean.
check the simple stuff first,
Has the bike always done this?
What was done to the bike before this started happening?
When was the last time you changed the plugs?
When was the last time you checked the exhaust flange nuts?
When was the last time you checked for an intake leak?
What kind of gas are you running? (try a differant brand of gas)
Did you rejet the carb when you installed the stage 1 upgrade?
I wish my Harley could go that fast.
