Anyone know where I can find used Harley parts?
Looking for good used or rebuildable parts for a '79 H-D FLH restoration project. Any ideas besides e-bay?
to jack f, I used to live in Austin, and I have been to Bud's many times, but that was a different time and a different bike. Don't like buying parts sight unseen, and I had one or two minor issues with some of Bud's staff.
They do have salvage yards for mtorcycles, but for what you have , it will be difficult. I would consult a local HD dealer and ask them to point you in the right direction. Most dealers have a lot of customers that do the same as you in restoring, wouldnt be very hard to find someone that can help you out. HD guys are very helpful.

Why buy used?…why not buy new? They make new parts for a shovelhead engine.
Around here we have free papers that have classifieds in them. The local ones are Shop-N-Swap, Show-N-Tell & Pennysaver. They are great because they not only have private ads, but business ads, too. I can usually find anything I want there. You can also run your own "wanted" ad for really cheap, if you don't find what you want. Look for similar papers at the entrances to convience stores, Wal-mart, or grocery stores.
Also look at Harley shops for similar papers just for bikers. Ours has several.
Or network with local bikers you meet by hanging out at the bike shop. My uncle makes a killing buying and reselling parts. He travels almost 6 months a year, meeting people, buying their rare, hard to find parts, and sells them to buyers he met two states back!!
Get on "Lets-Ride" or a similar site and find swap meets.

Without knowing where you are, thats a difficult question to answer. If you live near austin texas, there is a place called Buds, on Cesar Chavez street. They have tons of parts!!!! And I am sure they would have anything you need. I dont have the phone number but they are in the phone book.
I always recommend you get to know the local gray beards in your town. They are usually the best source when it comes to finding old scooter parts, especially on a budget.
I know you said not ebay, but there are parts there. Sometimes expensive, sometimes not too bad.
I live in the S.F bay area, and there are tons of parts around here. Flashes custom cycles in oakland is a good place.
