HARLEY SUPER GLIDE CUSTOM EXHAuST?
I just bought and picked up my 2009 Harley Davidson Dyna Super Glide Custom in blue pearl. Now after about 500 miles i'm going to change the stock pipe. I'm considering the V&H Big Radius 2 to 2 pipes. There going to run me about 0 but I like the slick style and the sharp ends. Right now i'm content witht the power, but i want to crank up the volume and get that mean badass harley sound. With a Screamin Eagle heavy breather, and some V&H Big Radius 2 to 2 pipes will the bike be rumbling.... I also plan to put 12.5" mini apes on the bike which i'll probablu do before anything but Right now those 3 things are as far as my budget goes. I know you can buy fuel packs etc but I'm limited to what I can spend. So with a Screamin Eagle heavy breather, V&H Big radius, and some mini apes will that fit well on the bike? Any suggestions? Mabe forget the heavy breather and add a fuel pack or something like that, IDk help me out....
Generally the V&H B/R pipes are better on bikes that need to breathe with monster cams, and larger displacement upgrades: 119 ci and above. (seems unnecessarily expensive just to get the same sound as slip ons)
I put on a set of Screamin Eagle slip-ons at the same time as a stage 1 download, a S/E breather and set of Andrews #26 gear drive cams. Mine runs like a strpied azz ape Yeah, man… Do what you please; Its your bike and you’re the only on that has to be happy. Changing the bars is cool, but the other guy is right… it involves adapted cables and brake hose….you gotta really want to change the bars to go through all that.
It would be a lot cheaper to just replace the mufflers rather than go with a whole new exhaust system. Screaming Eagle mufflers will run you about $350 or so and you won’t need to add a fuel pack. They aren’t too much louder but do have a nice deeper sound.
I had them on my 2007 FXDC.
well the whole problem with doing pipes and the intake is then the bike will run lean your best best is pipes and either power commander or race tuner intake then bars i’ve seen the v&h pipes on and agree they look great and sound nice .
It’s a Harley, do anything you want to it. But the apes, can be a very costly change. You not only need the new bars, but need to run all new control cables and wires to. Depending on the cables you buy, that can run you 3 or 4 hundred bucks. Then there’s the wiring, extensions and pig tails. Fluid for the front brakes and other stuff. If you don’t know what your doing, you can really mess things up. I have custom bars on my Harley, I only made a small change and it was a pain to do. I have large hands and to change the bars on my Road King. You have to take apart the head lamp, one very small nut, in a very small space. I finely had to go to Sears to buy a long wrench, to get to it. I now have a tool, I may never need again. Unless I change the bars again.
I’d go with the slip on, I have single baffle turn outs on mine. Not as loud as some, but I get a deep throaty rumble. Kind of like cherry bombs on a car, quiet at a stop light. But roar nicely, as you get on the gas.
There are plenty of V&H equiped H.D.s in Aussie - very nice sound.Don’t pay any attention to Bart - he does this to seek attention, then complains nobody likes him.
