If you touch the pipes they will cook the skin right off of your leg, but if you are burned by radiant heat your bike is running way too hot.
Check your spark plug for color ,I'd bet you are lean either due to an air leak or a maladjustment from the factory.
If you look in most any service manual, there are pictures of the tan color that is supposed to be left on your spark plugs.
If the dealer says you're not lean ,refer to the picture in the manual.

the dealer is high on angel dusted grass. the bikes are coming from the factory in a very lean condition since the '07 model's. the leaner the mix, the hotter the engine will get. i betcha 2-1 that if u pull the plugs, it will show a lean condition. within a couple of years, the classic air cooled engines will be going the way of the carburator....and replaced with water cooled. all because of epa regs. swap info with guys on this site.

these new bikes are running so lean, i'm very surprized they dont glow cherry red. if a dealer ever said that to me, i'd pimp slap him upside his head, then tell him to properly set the mix, and that i want my plugs a golden tan....today, not tomorrow.
