Polarbear and Craigmac are correct about the baffles, they are removable, BUT NOT RECOMMENDED, you WILL have to have the carb retuned and you WILL loose a considerable amount of mid-range hp & torque....this is the rpm range in which MOST riding is done and where you NEED the power. It will be LOUDER, but will not sound very good, just loud. If you MUST take them out.....please don't.....they are held in by a bolt on the back of the muffler...most likely you will have to remove the muffler, soak it with WD40 or PB Blaster and then beat it out from the front towards the back.

I have a 1997 hardly skirtster 1200 custom with a screaming beagle exhaust and I am not sure if everyone can tell that due to my extremely short crank a have to over compensate and need a louder "look at me, look at me I look like the village people" exhaust? Can I take the baffles out?

Are you trying to have the government mandate stock exhaust only as some cities already do? I understand why a guys wants a free flowing performance exhaust but don't take it too far, hardly's are a fairly loud bike (the only thing hardly able sons do correctly is turn gas into noise) to begin with any more just screams --loser trying to overcompensate for some short coming.

Both the screamin' eagle, and the screamin' eagle II came with baffles but the s/e II were quieter. Its is not recommended taking the baffles out. Performance will suffer greatly. if you just want your bike to run better than the epa thinks it should, take the baffles out, cut out some of the restriction (never more than 50%) and put them back in. Match the de-restriction and tune the pipes to a new set of jets and a mild set of cams, and for God's sake get that air box open.....

You are about to be bombarded by harley bashers, but they didn't cut the check. you did.

I'm positive you meant to say eagle, dam e is far to close to the w , The bike is going to be a lot louder, but I doubt very much if you would get any performance gains. you may lose some...happy typing
P.S. Mushki I don't think that is what the man asked did he ask to hear the rattle of an empty headed mushki no , he has a genuine question regarding care and performance.

Yes they have Baffles. DO NOT Take them out. It you want loud then just get some straight pipes from an after market manufacture and install power cones. But if you want performance then go Stage II and have your bike tuned. You paid good money for those HD SE Pipes don't ruin them.
