You will notice that with most pipes, there is a cross over pipe, and if they weren't true duals, there is the possibility that one exhaust pipe might expel more of the exhaust than the other.  with the computer system, it ensures that the amounts are equal.  Not something that you would want to install yourself, unless you can set the computer system up as well.</description>
