i own a 2004 harley davidson road king custom stock exhaust is to quiet, hao can i modify legally?

   take a piece of steal rod and knock baffle washer open look in side pipe with flashlight you will see it gives deep throtty sound lol 97 fatboyowner

   If you can afford newer model HD,,,you can afford to by a pair of dragpipes with removable baffles,,,,,you can keep them out and carry them with you,,,,,if you get pulled over ,,most cops will be happy if you put them in on the spot,,,,,ez to do,,,,and no tickets,,,,,,,,,,Try "Samson",,,,or Vance & Hines pipes,,,,,,I have full drag pipes,,,,i get pulled over,,,,i pop ‘em in,,,,,NEVER had a ticket,,,,,,,but open,,,they’re loud as @#$%,,,,,,,,makes Jap bike riders feel insignificant,,,,,,,( 10.3 secs in the 1/4 mile helps)

   To be legal it has to meet the same requirements as stock.
   To make it louder is to break the law.
   Sorry.

   P.S. Screamin’ Eagle is only available from the dealer until they run out. The reason they won’t restock? See above.

   you can replace the ends of the pipes with aftermarket mufflers as long as the cat is not altered and still be legal

    thunder monster baffles. made by big city thunder. for just $79 you can chance the baffles, or for $$hundreds you can change the whole pipe.

    This is a big deal right now, with lots of controversy on both sides: basically loud pipes save lives -vs- how annoying they are to the general public. Personaly I enjoy waking up my neighbors, but thats me. So… to stay legal Harley has gave into the annoying side & now are offering legal pipes only in they’re catalogs. Stay with the Screaming Eagle brand through Harley & youre dealer.

    To hell with legal, when was the last time you saw a cop pulling over a bike to look at the exhaust? If your baffles are removeable you have two choices. drill the baffles with numerous holes for some more noise but keeping some back pressure for good combustion or remove them all together and get power cones that drop in near the heads for some back pressure. There are hundreds of other pipes besides screaming eagles. (they are overpriced). Just look in any J&P cycle catalog or Dennis Kirk and you will find lots of different kinds. Try gopartsdirect.com, they are pretty inexpensive with limited choices.
