What is good for cleaning boot leather off the pipes of my Harley?
She can't help it, bless her heart. My wife rides on the back of my Harley with me everywhere, but she has a habit of getting her boots against my hot pipes, and her boot leather melts to them. After I get my pipes hot, what can I use to clean it off with??? I was told to use Easyoff oven cleaner. Anyother suggestions???
I would experiment with a couple of thing. I don't think easy off will hurt your pipes, the W.D. 40 might work also, but don't use the steel wool on them. Try engine bright foamy also It has an orange cap and runs about 3.99. It won't hurt anything that it touches. I love that stuff for my bike.
Make sure she has a good pair of boots, because good leather shouldn't be coming off on your pipes like that.
My honest opinion though: If she were charging her good for nothing son some rent and living expense money, she would have her own bike by now!
WD40 and #OOOO steel wool. Apply with elbow grease.
My chaps leave black marks all over my pipes. When I clean that off I use simichrome and a whole lot of elbow grease. Of course the pipes have to be cool to do that. I have never attempted to wipe it off when the pipes are hot.
Easy Off works best and easiest. Maybe you should relocate your passenger pegs.
Brasso metal polish works well, too.
There is a product called Colonel Brassy that works incredibly well for this. It was the only product I tried that worked and it is what my local dealer uses for that very purpose.
