Where to find a comparison on prices for my Harley?
I just purchased my first Harley Sportster, and wanted to know where to go to find price comparisons on parts I need to order. I'm a female so I'm scared of going to the local shops and getting taken advantage of. They see a lady walking in and know right away I'm a newbie. I just need to know where to go so I can get the real facts on what these parts should cost. Is there even such a place??? Help I've already been taken for once and I'm not even certain what the heck I purchased!
Go online. What kind parts after market accessories Try J&P cycles http://www.jpcycles.com ; DennisKirk.com ; http://www.harleysparts.com . I’m a rocket guy so I don’t have first hand buying harly parts but some on here should and there is always e-bay
honestly go to the place you bought the bike and ask what kind of prices the parts your looking for are worth… dont buy anything from them, but you will get an idea of what kind of prices your looking for
http://www.duboisharleydavidson.com these guys are as honest as they come. Call the phone number and ask for Bob. Tell him BW referred ya.
jpcycles.com.
jirehcycles.com.
J P Cycles will send you a cataloge for free with about 1000 pages of parts for Harleys
they also have a metric catalog
Wow you just bought it and you already need parts? So much for Harley becoming more reliable. I’d say cut your losses and a trade it for a real bike like a Suzuki, Ducati, or a Honda etc.
Go to a Harley dealership–there are usually females working there as well, and Harley has a reputation they uphold and take seriously. You may pay a little more by going through them rather than a local shop, but you’ll have recourse if something isn’t right. They will also be able to suggest what shops are authorized to work on your bike. Some shops who work on Harleys claim to be authorized, but the only way to find out is through the Harley company itself. Another option is to find an experienced male rider and have him claim he’s getting the prices "for his ol’lady’s bike" I have friends who have used that tactic as well ; )
Go back to the dealership where you bought the bike, go to the parts department and ask them for a FREE 2008 P&A (Parts and Accessorys) book. The prices are listed in the book.
Go to the Harley dealer. There are thousands of women Harley riders and the dealer will have no problem charging you the same price as they would charge me. Harley parts cost the same all over. Don’t use after market junk parts. Been there, done that.
